Jesse Lingard confirms FC Seoul exit, calls his time in Korea 'unbelievable'

Jesse Lingard announces his FC Seoul exit after two seasons, thanks his fans, and is set to play his final match in Korea on the 10th.

Jesse Lingard, the English player, called his time with FC Seoul. Jesse Lingard took his Instagram to make the announcement and said that his time in Korea had been unbelievable. After appearing in 66 appearances and 18 goals, the former Manchester United winger and FC Seoul mutually came to this decision. He joined the K League on a free transfer from Nottingham Forest in February 2024.

In the Instagram post, Jesse thanked the Korean fans and acknowledged their support. “After positive discussions with FC Seoul, we have mutually agreed that I will be leaving the club at the end of the 2025 season, with my final game on December 10th.” He wrote. Check out the post

Lingard will play his final match for FC Seoul on Wednesday against Melbourne City in the AFC Champions League. Lingard’s run for the South Korean club was not that impressive. In his time, he only helped the team to finish in fourth in his debut season.

“This wasn’t an easy decision. My time in South Korea has been unbelievable — the football, the atmosphere, and the passion around this club have been top-class. The love, support, and appreciation you have shown me for these last 2 years have been truly amazing. Playing football here has been an unforgettable experience and one I will always value.” He also added on Instagram.

The 2024 season was the club’s best season since the 2019 season, while in the 2025 season, the team finished sixth in the table. FC Seoul also regarded him as a public attention generator and as a symbolic figure in the K League.

Jesse Lingard also thanked his teammates and the staff. After ending his 20-year association with Manchester United, Lingard faced a challenging start to life at FC Seoul. He was publicly criticised by his coach for missing a significant part of his debut season due to injury. However, he eventually established himself as a key player and was rewarded with the captain's armband.
