Smog delays Messi’s Delhi arrival as G.O.A.T India Tour finale builds anticipation among waiting fans nationwide

Lionel Messi was set to arrive at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Monday as the last stop of this G.O.A.T. India Tour; however, Delhi's heavy Smog disrupted Messi’s flight. Delaying his arrival by a few hours. The Argentine footballer was in Mumbai for the second day of the event and was scheduled to land in Delhi early on this day.

However, the adverse weather conditions made the wait a bit longer for the fans, as Lionel Messi is still at Mumbai Airport and will travel to Delhi shortly. After the chaos in Kolkata, Messi had a blast at the Hyderabad and Mumbai legs, where his charismatic presence drove the fans crazy.

Messi-Sachin made the day special for the fans

Yesterday, the legend arrived at the Wankhede Stadium at around 5:40 PM and was welcomed and felicitated by Sachin Tendulkar. The 'God of Cricket' exchanged jerseys with the legendary footballer. Messi also gifted his Argentina World Cup-winning jerseys to Sunil Chhetri and Devendra Fadnavis. On the field, he took part in light football activities and also scored a penalty. He also joined a rondo session and kicked footballs into the crowd. Messi waved to fans, smiled, and interacted with people present at the stadium. Fans screamed “Visca Barca”, and Messi waved back with a smile.

Indian G.O.A.T., the Little Master Sachin Tendulkar, facilitated the Argentine legend Messi with his signed number 10 jersey and had a chat with Messi and showed him his jersey number. Sachin also shared his memories at the Wankhede Stadium and shared how the impact of Messi’s presence could have on young athletes.

Lionel Messi’s G.O.A.T India Tour 2025 concludes today in New Delhi, with multiple high-profile engagements including a stadium event at Arun Jaitley Stadium, a youth football clinic, and potentially a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Gates have been opened on the mid-day for ticketed fans, with performances, an exhibition football match, and youth activities planned before a closing felicitation ceremony.
