Vancouver Whitecaps star forward Thomas Müller described the upcoming MLS final against Inter Miami as perfect. The German footballer said, as cited by ESPN, "I think this match is great. I know you guys and the media, and also MLS, it makes sense also to make a point with Messi and with myself and the bigger names, but I think it's about two teams with a very attractive and good-looking playing style, and it's the perfect final in my opinion. I appreciate being part of it."

On the big occasion, Müller will face big opponents, including Messi, Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets, and Luis Suárez, whom he has encountered before during stints at Bayern Munich and with the German national team. The last time Müller and Messi met on the field was during the Champions League clash between Bayern and Paris Saint-Germain in March 2023.

However, Messi did not have good memories when facing Müller, as in the 2019–20 edition of the Champions League, Bayern demolished Barca with an 8–2 famous victory. Also in the 2014 World Cup final, Messi’s dream was demolished as Müller’s national side, Germany, won the match 1–0. Messi last faced Müller in the Champions League on March 8, 2023, when Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern faced off. Also in 2010, Müller and Germany defeated Argentina 4–0 in the World Cup quarterfinals.

Müller also added, as quoted by ESPN, "For me, it's always nice to meet old friends. We are not really close, but I was always watching them play and they are great players, they were great players. Some of them still are, and it's always nice when you can look back on your own history to meet them again. Regarding the result or about the games, what was in the past is not very important for the future, but it's nice to see them."

He also recalled Vancouver's impressive performance against Inter Miami in the semifinals of the Concacaf Champions Cup, where they won by an aggregate score of 5–1 over two legs. However, he emphasised that each match is unique, and past results do not guarantee future outcomes.

In Müller’s words: this final is special not just because of the stars involved, but because it promises competitive football defined by collective strength and style, with an open canvas for a new chapter whoever lifts the trophy on Dec. 7 (IST).
