LeBron James passes Chris Paul to become second on NBA’s all-time assists list

LeBron James, the Los Angeles Lakers star and one of the most wonderful players in NBA history, has just added another feather in his crown. In a regular-season match, James recorded a performance that not only helped the Lakers secure a comeback victory but also allowed him to surpass Chris Paul on the league’s all-time assists leaderboard. With this achievement, James now ranks second in NBA history for career assists, trailing only the legendary John Stockton.

On Sunday night, during the Lakers’ competitive 120–114 win over the Memphis Grizzlies, James dominated all the charts and contributed with critical rebounds and assists. In this match, James scored 26 points and 10 assists. He scored 13,793 career assists (combined regular season and playoffs). With this, James officially moved past Chris Paul, who long held the No. 2 spot behind Stockton.

With this achievement, James grabbed the place near the top of multiple all-time statistical categories, which reflects not just longevity but sustained excellence in both scoring and playmaking.

Historically, Stockton and Paul were at the top, but now James officially entered the second all-time in combined assists, and moved up as one of the few forwards to rank among the career leaders in this category. Stockton’s total remains the highest in league history, setting a benchmark that has stood for decades.
