Former Bihar Chief Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav's grandson, Aditya, has been inducted for a mandatory two-year Basic Military Training (BMT) in Singapore. He is 18 years old, the age when all Singapore nationals have to serve two years in the military.

Rohini Acharya, Lalu Yadav's daughter and Aditya's mother, shared the news of her son's military training on social media and called him brave and courageous.
Rohini Acharya wrote on X, "Today my heart is filled with pride. After completing his Pre-University studies, our eldest son Aditya has gone for a two-year Basic Military Training at just 18 years of age."
She added, "Aditya, you are brave, courageous, and disciplined. Go and do wonders. Always remember, warriors are forged in life's toughest battles. All our love and encouragement will always be with you."

Who is Aditya?
Aditya's parents are Rohini Acharya and Samaresh Singh. Acharya is the second child of former Bihar CMs Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi. Aditya's father is the son of former high-ranking Income Tax officer Rao Ranvijay Singh, NDTV reported. The couple has two more children.
Aditya has begun Basic Military Training (BMT), the first stage of Singapore's National Service. The training focuses on building discipline, fitness, teamwork, and mental strength through physical exercises, drills, weapons training, and field practice.
After BMT, recruits are given roles in the Army, Navy, Air Force, or support units based on their performance. They serve full-time for two years and later return for reservist duties until the age of 40 or 50, depending on their role.

Why is Lalu Yadav's grandson serving in the Singaporean military?
As Aditya is a Singaporean national, he has been mandated by law to serve in the National Service. All male Singapore citizens and second-generation Permanent Residents must serve two years of full-time National Service after turning 18. They can be assigned to the Singapore Armed Forces, Civil Defence Force, or Police Force.
National Service is mandatory for everyone who is eligible, and strict action is taken against those who try to avoid it.
