The Denver Nuggets faced a big blow as one of the key players Nikola Jokic sustained an injury on his left knee against the Miami Heat. Jokic sustained the injury when there were only six seconds remaining in the second quarter after that he sat out on the bench and did not play again.

Fans and experts think that the team will have to go with the team they have assembled in the offseason and have to put it to the test.

Serious injury increased the uncertainty over the return

Nikola Jokic sustained a knee hyperextension during Monday’s game which raised concerns about his short-term availability. The incident occurred under the basket when teammate Spencer Jones accidentally stepped on Jokic’s leg, causing his knee to bend backwards beyond its normal range.

A knee hyperextension is typically described as an injury in which the joint is forced past its usual limit, often leading to ligament-related issues rather than a standalone diagnosis. The severity can vary depending on the extent of internal damage.

It is believed by the sources that Jokic underwent an MRI on Tuesday. Though, the team has not provided a clear timeline for his return, leaving his status uncertain in the immediate future.

Coach described the situation

The 30-year-old great crunched down to the ground immediately after he sustained an injury. Nuggets head coach David Adelman said as quoted by the BBC, “ Immediately, he knew something was wrong.” He also added "This is part of the NBA. Anyone who gets hurt, it's gut-wrenching, especially somebody as special as he is. We'll find out more tomorrow. We'll move on as a team. Obviously, right now, I'm more concerned just about him as a person and the disappointment of going through something like that."
