Bajaj Auto is preparing to launch the updated Pulsar NS400Z in India, this time with a downsized 349cc engine. The motorcycle has already started reaching dealerships, indicating that an official launch is just around the corner.

Interestingly, while the ex-showroom price of the 2026 Pulsar NS400Z remains unchanged, buyers are expected to benefit from a lower on-road price. This is mainly because third-party insurance costs for motorcycles under 350cc are nearly 50 per cent lower than for higher-capacity bikes.

Smaller engine, slight drop in output

The updated Pulsar NS400Z will now be powered by a 349cc liquid-cooled engine. It produces 40.04bhp at 9,000rpm and 33.2 N · m of peak torque at 7,500rpm. Compared to the previous version, this marks a drop of around 2.5bhp and 1.8 N · m. Another key change is in the torque delivery, which now comes at a higher rpm than before. Earlier, peak torque was available at 6,500rpm, but it now arrives at 7,500rpm. This could make the bike feel slightly more focused on higher revs rather than low-end performance.

Lower costs, familiar package

Apart from the new engine, the rest of the motorcycle is expected to remain largely unchanged. The design, features, and hardware setup will continue as before, keeping the overall character of the NS400Z intact.

The move to a smaller engine appears to be a strategic one, helping Bajaj make the bike more cost-effective for buyers without making major changes to its overall package. With units already arriving at dealerships, the official launch of the updated Pulsar NS400Z is expected in the coming weeks.
