On Saturday, two young men were critically injured after a speeding car rammed into their scooter in Uttar Pradesh's Jhansi. The incident took place around 4 pm on Thursday near the Forest Department office in the Nawabad area. A nearby CCTV camera captured the violent crash, and the footage has since gone viral across social media platforms.

As per a report by India Today, the people who witnessed the incident on the spot accounted, the victims were riding along the middle of the main road when an apparently speeding car hit their scooter from behind. In the footage, it can be seen that the impact of the collision was so intense that the scooter went flying in the air, and its riders were flung several feet away. People can be seen running toward the injured a few moments after the accident.

Driver flees, locals rush to rescue

According to the India Today report, eyewitnesses said the car driver did not stop after the incident. The video shows no attempt to brake or slow down before the vehicle speeds away from the site. Shocked onlookers immediately stepped in, and with the help of passersby, the two men were taken to a nearby hospital. Both are undergoing treatment for serious injuries, officials added.

The video, shared online, has triggered widespread anger among locals. Locals have demanded quick action against reckless driving and stricter enforcement of traffic rules in the area.

Police reviewing footage to trace vehicle

As per the report, the police in Nawabad have confirmed that they are scrutinising the CCTV footage to identify the vehicle and its driver. Officers said teams have been deployed in nearby localities to gather additional information. Legal action will be taken once the accused is arrested, the police officials stated.
