‘Dear NASA, bring back Pluto as a planet’: 10-year-old’s heartfelt letter gets official reply

A 10-year-old wrote to NASA, urging the agency to reinstate Pluto as a planet. NASA replied, explaining the scientific reasons for Pluto’s current classification as a dwarf planet.

A 10-year-old girl named Kaela wrote a letter to NASA that has captured widespread attention online. In her letter, she asked NASA to make Pluto a planet again. She said that Pluto is part of our solar system and was once classified as a planet.

Even though scientists now call it a “dwarf planet,” Kaela thinks it should still be a real planet. She also said that she and her friends would be very happy if that happened. Her sweet and thoughtful letter has touched many hearts on social media.

Kaela’s letter to NASA

Kaela didn’t just ask nicely; she also shared several facts to support her argument. She said Pluto is in a place called the Kuiper Belt and was found by Clyde Tombaugh in 1930. She also pointed out that Pluto is smaller than Earth’s Moon and has five moons of its own.

A user took to Instagram, namely Mike’s Weather Page, where he shared the little girl’s letter while tagging NASA. In her letter, she said sorry for any messy handwriting or spelling mistakes. This made her letter feel even sweeter and more real, and people really loved that.

She wrote in her letter, “Please make Pluto a planet again. I really want it to be a planet again. Here are some reasons that Pluto should be a planet again.”

NASA’s response

The event became even more special when NASA responded to the letter. The space agency wrote, “Kaela — we are looking into this.”
