Winter appears to be fading, with the city’s maximum temperature already touching 30C. While there is still a mild chill at night, temperatures are expected to rise further by the weekend. In several districts, night temperatures may climb to 19–20C, signalling a gradual shift towards warmer conditions.
On Thursday, Kolkata recorded a minimum temperature of 17C, which is 1.7C below normal. Wednesday’s maximum temperature stood at 30.4C, 0.4C above normal. Humidity levels on Thursday ranged between 84 percent and 26 percent.

According to the Alipore Meteorological Department, there is unlikely to be any significant change in minimum temperatures until Friday. Over the next four days, temperatures are expected to rise gradually by 2–3C. After that, no major fluctuations are forecast. There is no likelihood of dense fog in the mornings. However, light fog may occur in North Bengal districts such as Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri and Cooch Behar, as well as in East and West Midnapore in South Bengal.
In Kolkata and nearby areas, night temperatures are expected to remain between 18–20C from Friday to Sunday. Coastal districts may see temperatures between 17–19C, while western districts could record 15–18C. No rainfall has been predicted for South Bengal this week.
