The 173rd birth anniversary of Sri Sarada Devi was observed at Belur Math on Thursday, December 11, through various programs throughout the day. As per tradition, the anniversary celebration began at 4:45 AM with 'mangalarati' at Sri Ma's temple. This was followed by Veda recitation, hymns, 'bhajans', special worship, and 'homa' ceremonies. Artists performed songs, recitation of Ma's words, 'padavali kirtan', musical drama, and baul songs.

Large crowds gathered at Belur Math on this occasion. A religious assembly was held at 3 PM in the afternoon. Senior monks of the Belur Math talked about the life and teachings of Sarada Ma. On the occasion of Sarada Devi's birth anniversary, a blood donation camp was organized by the Khanakul Balai Chak Ramakrishna Vivekananda Sevashram. A total of 100 people donated blood.

Who were present at Belur Math?
Among the present were Khanakul police station OC Samir Mukherjee, and Khanakul MLA Sushanta Ghosh. Special worship was also conducted at Kamarpukur Math on this day. Many devotees were present there. Jayrambati, too, saw a large confluence of devotees. After marriage to Sri Ramakrishna, Ma Sarada left Jayrambati for Kamarpukur, at the age of 14 years.
