CM Mamata Banerjee launched Phase 4 of Pathasree-Rastasree to build 20,000 km of roads across West Bengal.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launched the fourth phase of the Pathasree-Rastasree initiative, on Wednesday. The government project's latest phase aims to build 20,000 kilometres of roads across the state.

At the launch event held in Krishnanagar, Nadia, the Chief Minister symbolically commenced the project by pouring a mixture of cement and sand into a brick enclosure.

An audio-visual presentation following the launch said that the state government will construct 20,000 kilometres of roads across the 23 districts. Residents of 35,000 villages and 128 municipal areas will be benefited by the project, the AV claimed. It was further said that 15 crore work days will be created for job-card holders as a result, and that the government has constructed more 1 lakh 83 thousand 84 kilometres of roads since 2011.

Trinamool Congress's reaction

Trinamool Congress spokesperson and TMCP Vice-President Sudip Raha told News Ei Samay, "The Pathasree project runs on the suggestions of the people, and the government reached everywhere where people have had an issue with the quality of roads. While other states have seen 'plastic development,' the West Bengal government has developed even the farthest of precincts."

He added, "The kind of development of road infrastructure that Mamata Banerjee's government has done is unparalleled. Trinamool Congress will get the dividend of this development in the upcoming assembly elections. People can readily witness this transformation, unlike BJP's empty slogans."
