Just a few days remain before the calendar flips to 2026, and preparations for New Year celebrations are already in full swing. To double the festive excitement, Digha is gearing up for a spectacular surprise. A grand Beach Festival and New Year celebration are being organised, with New Digha, Old Digha, and Shankarpur set to glow with dazzling illuminations.

The festival is being arranged jointly by the Digha-Shankarpur Hoteliers’ Association and the Development Authority.

Two specially decorated cruise boats have been arranged on the seas of New and Old Digha. A special fireworks show will be launched from these vessels to welcome the New Year. Exactly at midnight on December 31, a breathtaking Olympics-style fireworks display will light up the middle of the Digha sea. Fireworks will also be held along the beach.

According to the organisers, the two-day celebration will begin on December 30. The opening ceremony will be held on the Old Digha beach near ‘Dighali’, with several renowned performers expected to attend. To manage the large tourist inflow, strict security arrangements will be in place. Security will also be tightened at the Jagannath Temple in Digha.

Hoteliers believe the special arrangements will significantly boost tourism this season. Sushanta Patra, president of the Digha-Shankarpur Hoteliers’ Association, said, “For the first time, New Year celebrations in Digha are being organised in an international style. Additionally, two beautifully decorated cruises will sail through the sea for tourist entertainment.”
