Frequent seismic activity continues as Tibet experiences 3.6-magnitude earthquake

A magnitude 3.6 earthquake struck Tibet on Wednesday at a depth of 50km, the National Center for Seismology (NCS) reported. This follows a shallow 3.7 quake on February 22, which is more likely to trigger strong aftershocks. Tibet and neighbouring Nepal sit on a major fault where the Indian and Eurasian plates collide, causing frequent seismic activity. Shallow quakes can cause stronger shaking and greater structural damage, highlighting the region’s ongoing geological risks.
