Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) chief Sharad Pawar has been admitted to a private hospital in Mumbai for a routine health check-up, sources said on Tuesday.
According to Press Trust of India (PTI), the 85-year-old Rajya Sabha member was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital two days ago. A source told the agency that his visit is part of a follow-up examination and that there is no cause for concern.
Pawar was recently seen taking oath as a Rajya Sabha member while seated in a wheelchair, following which he addressed the media in Delhi.

Recent health concerns and political activity
This is not the first time in recent months that Pawar has required medical attention. In February, he was admitted to a private hospital in Pune after experiencing mild dehydration and was later discharged following treatment, as per PTI.
Despite health concerns, the veteran leader has remained active in public life and party affairs. Earlier this month, his party highlighted his role in advancing women’s reservation in Maharashtra, crediting him with introducing 33 per cent reservation in local self-government bodies during his tenure as chief minister, which was later increased to 50 per cent.

The party also pointed to his earlier advocacy for greater representation of women in Parliament and state assemblies, as well as measures supporting women’s participation in the armed forces.
Sources indicated that Pawar’s current hospitalisation is precautionary, involving routine monitoring and follow-up checks. There has been no official statement indicating any serious health issue.
