During winter, snow accumulates up to waist-deep in Auli. Many people from home and abroad come here for skiing. A skiing championship is held here every year. As soon as snow falls, there's a rush for skiing here. Auli has a skiing track of approximately 3 kilometres in length. Therefore, to enjoy adventure sports in winter, one must come to Auli.

Opportunity to ride the longest ropeway

Even if you can't ski, there's no disappointment. There's an opportunity to ride Asia's second-longest ropeway here. There's a 4.15-kilometre-long ropeway from Joshimath to Auli. By taking this ropeway, you can reach an altitude of approximately 1100 meters. There's a cable car ropeway here. Besides this, there's also a small ropeway on Auli's skiing track.

Wrapped in natural beauty

From Auli, the scenic views of Garhwal unfold. Right in front are mountain peaks like Chaukhamba, Trishul, Hathi-Ghoda Parvat, Nilgiri, Dronagiri, and Nanda Devi. If the sky is clear, you can see these distinctly while standing on Auli's snow. Besides this, there are also trekking facilities like the Kuari Pass here.

How to go and where to stay?

The distance from Dehradun to Auli is approximately 280 kilometres. Besides this, you can reach Auli by road from Rishikesh and Haridwar. To take the ropeway, you need to reach Joshimath. This Joshimath has numerous hotels for accommodation. By road, Auli is just a 30-minute journey from Joshimath. Besides this, Auli also has hotels and cottages.
