"I found a trick in my office: I act like I am dumb, I starts wearing clothes which make me look sick, I act sick always, Whenever anyone try to talks to me, I keep saying things like, family responsibilities, loan EMI, and other topics people don’t like to talk," the employee says in the post.
These "tricks", the Big 4 employee said, make others at work pity him and he is given less work as compared to others.
"They pity me, gave me advice like eat good food and try to go for gym, give me less work than other people, expectations are also very less," he said.
However, he says that he finished all the work assigned to him making others feel that he is a responsible employee even amid all the mess.
"But i complete all my task assigned to me (So that they feel, this person is in such a bad condition but still is so responsible)," he wrote.
At the end of his post, he asks, "Anyone can you tell me what are the cons of it?"
Internet has mixed reactions
The post received a mixed response from people. One user said, "Smart move, ghosting the grind while still getting paid."
Another called it pathetic and wrote, "The moment a civilisation starts normalising mediocrity as a badge of honour, their decline is inevitable. Now you know why startup and corps don't want to hire genz freshers. They have no substance. Pathetic."
One user said, "Short term protection strategies often quietly cap long term growth whether you notice it or not."
Some people said that these tactics might get him fired and people might feel he was fake. "People might stop trusting you and feel you are fake, one person said while another wrote, "Might get fired to avoid having to pay you for a probable sick leave."
Employee clarifies
Amid all these reactions to his post on X, the employee clarified that he stopped doing all this "6 months ago, otherwise I could be fired."
In another post, he said, "Guys! Don’t get me wrong, I never lied! I have family responsibilities I have severe asthma, i had my parents loan on me! I just show everyone cherry picked bad things only! And maybe I am dumb, so everything is a truth technically."
He added, "Guys guys! Chill! I did this for 2 months in june-july of previous year! If anyone keeps doing it for more than 3 months, people will fire him!"

Claiming that the work culture at Big 4 firms was "hard", he said, "Like I am in a big 4 company, and they make you work so hard, just search about it, simply I would get fired if i was a non-performing employee right!"
"And now i am a team lead, so how i am getting promotion by doing the same. Again if i still do that i wont share on X like this," he concluded.
