Oil tanker fire engulfs bus, damages cars on National Highway 16 in Howrah

An oil tanker caught fire near a petrol pump in Dhulagarh, Howrah, spreading to the road and damaging vehicles. No casualties were reported, police said.

Fire in an oil tanker. The oil tanker was blazing fiercely on the road. The fire spread to the road as well. Five more vehicles were damaged in the fire. The horrific incident occurred on Friday night in Dhulagarh under the Sankrail police station in Howrah. However, there were no reports of casualties in the incident.

Around 9:30 PM, a tanker parked near a petrol pump on National Highway 16 near Dhulagarh caught fire. Within minutes, the fire spread to the road. Due to the spreading flames, four nearby four-wheelers were damaged. An empty bus parked nearby also caught fire. The bus was completely burnt to ashes.

Five fire engines rushed to the spot, and the blaze was brought under control after about an hour and a half. Traffic on National Highway 16, however, remained disrupted for a considerable period following the incident. Howrah City Police Commissioner Prabin Kumar Tripathi said the fire originated from an oil tanker but was contained swiftly.
