Customers planning a visit to their bank branch on Saturday, June 6, can do so without concern, as banks across India remain open today. Since it is the first Saturday of the month, it is not observed as a bank holiday under Reserve Bank of India (RBI) rules.
The RBI has scheduled a total of 11 bank holidays in June 2026, including regional holidays, religious observances, and routine weekend closures. While some holidays apply only to specific states, national banking operations will continue as usual on most working days.
Banks open today, closed on select Saturdays
Under RBI guidelines, banks remain closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month, along with all Sundays. This means branches will be shut on June 13 (second Saturday) and June 27 (fourth Saturday).
There are also four Sundays in June this year. Banks will therefore remain closed on June 7, June 14, June 21 and June 28.
Regional bank holidays in June
Several state-specific holidays are scheduled during the month.
On June 15, banks will remain closed in Aizawl for the Young Mizo Association (YMA) Day and in Bhubaneswar for Raja Sankranti.
June 25 has been marked as a bank holiday in Vijayawada for Moharrum.
A wider closure is scheduled on June 26 for Muharrum. Banks will remain shut in Agartala, Aizawl, Belapur, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chennai, Hyderabad, Jammu, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi and Srinagar.
Banks in Shimla will remain closed on June 29 to mark Sant Guru Kabir Jayanti, while branches in Aizawl will observe Remna Ni on June 30.
Digital banking services remain available
Even when physical branches are closed, customers can continue to access most banking services through digital platforms.
UPI transactions, mobile banking apps, internet banking, and ATM services remain operational throughout holidays. Customers can transfer funds, pay bills, receive money, and carry out routine transactions without visiting a branch.

Banks also continue to support services such as NEFT and RTGS requests through online channels. However, customers are advised to check with their local branch regarding holiday applicability and any service-related updates, particularly during scheduled maintenance periods.
