Domino's is leaning into the summer football spotlight with a promotion that links a major on-field misstep to a large-scale pizza giveaway. The company said it will hand out $1 million worth of Emergency Pizzas if any player from the US team receives a red card during the tournament.
According to Domino's, more than 60,000 winners will be randomly selected to receive a free medium, two-topping pizza if the condition is triggered.

Bargain for anxious supporters
The chain said fans must register for the promotion at dominos.com/emergency-pizzas-for-soccer before June 10 at 11:59 p.m. ET, and winners must also be enrolled in Domino's Rewards.

The marketing gurus make their sporting case
Kate Trumbull, Domino's executive vice president and chief marketing officer, said in a statement that the company wanted to give fans a way to react to one of football's most unwelcome moments.
“Football gurus know the worst thing to happen in a game is for a player on the team you're rooting for to receive a red card,” Trumbull said. “If that happens to the American squad, Domino's is here to help ease the pain by giving away Emergency Pizzas. It may not change the outcome of the match, but it can provide a delicious pick-me-up when it's needed most.”

Beyond the touchline
The promotion is not limited to the World Cup red-card hook. Domino's said it will also give away 75,000 more Emergency Pizzas to players of EA SPORTS FC 26.
On Fridays between now and June 5, the company will distribute a unique promo code in the game to randomly selected U.S. players aged 18 or older. Domino's said the gaming tie-in is meant to reach fans in another setting while extending the same Emergency Pizza branding.
The company has also launched a limited-edition merchandise line with Saturdays Football that includes jerseys, a cap and slides.
