Gold and silver soar in Kolkata markets: 24-carat gold hits ₹1.34 lakh per 10g

Gold and silver prices rise sharply in Kolkata, with gold gaining ₹850 per 10 grams and silver surging ₹6,800 per kg.

Gold and silver prices increased significantly in December 2025. As a result, multiple records were set for these two precious metals in December. However, gold and silver prices began to decline in the very last week of December. Although gold prices fell on the first day of the new year, they rose again on the second day.

Compared to the first day of the new year, the price of 24-carat gold per 10 grams increased by 850 rupees in Kolkata's market on Friday. The price of 22-carat gold per 10 grams also increased by 850 rupees. However, silver prices increased significantly in Kolkata's market on this day. The price of silver per kilogram increased by approximately 6,800 rupees.

Gold prices in Kolkata's market on Friday: (excluding taxes)

Pure gold bar (24-carat): 1 lakh 34 thousand 550 rupees (per 10 grams)

Pure gold bar (retail): 1 lakh 35 thousand 250 rupees (per 10 grams)

Hallmarked jewellery gold (22-carat): 1 lakh 28 thousand 550 rupees (per 10 grams)

Silver (retail): 2 lakh 37 thousand 100 rupees (per kilogram)

You will not be able to buy gold at these rates when you go to the market. It will cost slightly more than these rates. This is because GST and jewellery-making charges will be added to these rates. Although GST is fixed at 3 per cent, these charges may vary from shop to shop.
