What exactly happened at the Panihati festival?
The Panihati festival began on December 20 at the Amarabati ground in Sodepur. One of the main attractions of this festival was Bollywood singer Ankit Tiwari's concert on December 28. During that program, several young men got into an argument with Tanmay over dancing. At that time, there was allegedly a scuffle between the two sides.
The situation calmed down temporarily due to the intervention of the spectators present there.
According to allegations, Tanmay was leaving the ground alone after the program. At that time, finding him alone, several people allegedly took him to an alley and brutally beat him up. Throwing him on the road, several people together started kicking him in the stomach, punching and slapping him. Tanmay somehow managed to reach home from there. He started vomiting at night. He was first taken to Panihati State General Hospital.
Later, when his physical condition deteriorated, this young man was first transferred to Sagardatta Medical College Hospital in Kamarhati and then to RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. He died there.
Tanmay's home is in the Ghola Apurbanagar area of Sodepur. The young man's family has filed a murder complaint at the Khardaha police station in this incident.
