Indian IT services company Wipro has revised its work-from-office policy, introducing stricter attendance rules for employees. Under the new guidelines, employees are now required to spend a minimum of six hours in the office on designated workdays. The revised rules came into effect on January 1.

Wipro continues to follow a hybrid work model, under which employees must work from the office at least three days a week. While the three-day office attendance requirement was already in place, the company has now added a mandatory six-hour minimum stay per office day. This requires a gap of at least six hours between entry and exit from the office.

Wipro's new office policy

According to the new policy, employees whose weekly office attendance does not meet the requirements may face leave deductions. As per The Economic Times report, employees who fail to complete the minimum six-hour office stay will be marked for half-day leave. Earlier, Wipro allowed employees to work remotely for up to 15 days a year; this has now been reduced to 12 days.

The company has clarified that the mandatory six-hour office presence is not linked to official duty hours, which remain 9.5 hours per day. Employees have been informed that if they complete only six hours in the office, they are expected to finish the remaining work hours from home.

Other major Indian IT services firms have also placed strong emphasis on office-based work. At Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), employees are required to work from the office all five days a week, with work-from-home permitted for only two days a month in case of illness. Infosys has also issued instructions encouraging employees to work from the office in most cases.
