A devastating fire broke out on Wednesday evening in the Nonadanga area of Anandapur, triggering panic in the surrounding area. The incident took place in the Matangini Colony of the Nonadanga area. It was first noticed around 6:30 PM. The flames quickly spread through the locality, engulfing multiple huts and houses.
According to sources, several homes in the area contained gas cylinders, and large quantities of combustible materials were stored there. This has contributed to the rapid spread of the fire. Thick black smoke had covered the entire area. How the fire initially started is still unknown.

Seven fire engines were deployed to control the blaze. However, as of 7:30 PM, the fire had not yet been brought under control. The flames have destroyed the belongings and life savings of several families.
No casualties have been reported so far. Police and fire department sources said the cause of the fire was not known as of Wednesday evening.
