A new platform called 'Bharat Taxi' is set to pose a major challenge to the country's app cab market. According to a report in The Economic Times, this new service is set to launch fully in New Delhi in January. Earlier, at the beginning of this month, Bharat Taxi had started services on a trial basis in parts of Delhi and Gujarat. This new service is expected to give strong competition to established companies like Ola, Uber and Rapido.

What is Bharat Taxi?
Bharat Taxi is operated by Sahkar Taxi Co-operative Limited. This platform is being presented as a driver-owned domestic mobility service. The company claims it is the world's largest driver-owned mobility network. Currently, more than one lakh drivers, including cars, auto-rickshaws and bike taxis, are registered on this platform in Delhi and the Saurashtra region of Gujarat.
Zero commission model
Bharat Taxi's biggest feature is the zero-commission model. Under this system, drivers can keep the entire fare amount themselves. A report states that more than two-thirds of registered drivers are cab operators. There are also auto-rickshaw and bike taxi drivers.
Mobile app & digital presence
Sahkar Taxi Co-operative has already launched the Bharat Taxi mobile app. This app is available on both Android and iOS platforms. According to the company's claims, the app has been downloaded more than 75 thousand times so far.
Key features of the app
The Bharat Taxi app has features like transparent fare structure, multiple languages, real-time vehicle tracking and 24-hour customer support. Verification systems have been implemented for the safety of both passengers and drivers. Additionally, security has been strengthened by maintaining connections with the Delhi Police and other agencies.
Fare rates & services
This platform will offer options for AC, premium, non-AC and XL cabs. The company claims that vehicles will be available within two minutes. Fare rates will also be comparatively lower than those of other companies. In this app, the minimum fare for the first 4 kilometres is 30 rupees. For 4 to 12 kilometres, the fare is 23 rupees per kilometre, and for distances over 12 kilometres, 18 rupees per kilometre will be charged.

Multi-modal travel facility
Like other aggregators, the Bharat Taxi app is also connected with public transport services like Metro. As a result, users will be able to plan their entire journey using multiple modes of transport through a single app.
How to use the Bharat Taxi App?
Currently, trial services are running in Delhi and Gujarat. Users can sign up with their mobile number. They can select pickup and drop locations and choose their preferred ride. Real-time tracking will be available throughout the journey. The usage process is as simple as other private company apps.
