According to Vastu Shastra, the dining table is not merely a place for eating food. It is a symbol of family happiness, peace and prosperity. The energy associated with the dining table directly affects our health and fortune. While positive energy generally flows here, placing certain items can have adverse effects. According to Vastu, placing several items on the dining table invites negative energy, which can have an inauspicious impact on your life.

According to Vastu, which 6 items should not be placed on the dining table?

Broken or cracked utensils

Never place broken or chipped glass tumblers, plates or bowls on the dining table. According to Vastu Shastra, broken utensils are symbols of poverty or scarcity. Using them increases mental tension among family members. There is a possibility of financial loss.

Medicines

Many people keep medicine boxes on the table for convenience after eating. This is a major Vastu defect. The dining table symbolises good health, so placing medicines for curing diseases there ensures illness persists in the house and spreads negative thoughts among family members.

Stale or rotten food

Leaving leftover food from the night or rotten fruits on the dining table is inauspicious. Stale food is a repository of tamasic or negative energy. Having it in the house increases laziness. Goddess Lakshmi becomes angry, which can create a financial crisis.

Thorny plants or cactus

Never place cactus or small thorny plants on the dining table for decoration. Thorny plants create bitterness and discord in relationships. Instead, you can place fresh flowers or small money plants. This increases positivity and brings auspicious energy.

Sharp objects (knives or scissors)

Knives or scissors should not be kept open on the dining table. Even if they need to be kept, their edges should face downward or be covered. Open sharp objects increase aggression among family members. They destroy the sweetness of relationships and invite disputes.

Useless or dirty objects

Unnecessary papers, dustbins, brooms or household garbage are prohibited around or on the dining table. It is essential to keep the table clean at all times. Goddess Annapurna does not stay in dirty environments. This is considered an insult to her, which takes away domestic happiness. Food shortage may occur.
