Actor’s note sparks speculation
In the message, Padukone talked about the need to stay composed in stressful situations.
"Becoming calm is the loudest flex. Anyone can lose their temper, react fast, talk loud and make noise. Real power shows up when chaos hits and you don’t fold," the actor wrote.
She further described calmness as a form of control and self-mastery, saying that it entails “unlearning reactions and choosing clarity over impulse.” She said that staying composed in a world full of noise is a "superpower."
The screenshots of the message quickly went viral on social media platforms, including Reddit, where users discussed whether the message was in response to the casting report.
Reports about the audition
According to Variety India, the creators of The White Lotus follow a standard casting process that includes auditions for potential cast members. A source quoted in the report said Padukone was not inclined to participate in that process.
"Auditions are a mandatory part of the casting process for The White Lotus. The makers were keen to audition actors before signing them," the source told the publication, adding that Padukone’s reluctance to audition led to the project not progressing further.
The report also noted that the production team had previously approached the actor for the third season of the series. At the time, Padukone was expecting her child and had declined the offer.
Possible Hollywood return
If she had joined the series, the project would have marked Padukone’s return to international screen work nearly a decade after her Hollywood debut in xXx: Return of Xander Cage (2017) alongside Vin Diesel, Donnie Yen, Ruby Rose, Nina Dobrev, and Toni Collette.
Since then, the actor has largely focused on Hindi cinema while maintaining a global presence through fashion and brand collaborations.
As of now, neither Padukone nor the creators of The White Lotus have confirmed any discussions regarding Season 4 casting.
