Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav, known for making audiences laugh, was sent to Tihar Jail this month after surrendering in a 9 crore cheque-bounce case. However, after a few days, the Delhi High Court has rejected his bail.
Recently, a video has created buzz on social media - Rajpal Yadav thanking Salman Khan. People, before verifying the news, thought Salman Khan had paid the amount, and Rajpal Yadav was released. But Rajpal Yadav's wife, Radha Yadav, explained that the information being spread is untrue.
Is Rajpal Yadav still in jail?
Rajpal Yadav's wife, Radha Yadav, told to the Bombay Times, "As of now, he is not out of Tihar Jail. The bail hearing is scheduled for Monday." When she was asked about the actor's condition in jail, she stated, "He is okay, from what I understand. Our whole family is together at this time. We are very grateful for the support and love he is receiving from his fans and the film fraternity."

Why did Rajpal Yadav thank Salman Khan?
A few days back, a video widely spread on social media showed the actor Rajpal Yadav thanking Salman Khan and saying, "Salman bhai bade bhai ki tarah hain, Salman bhai ke sath aaj baith ke andar se bahot khushi mehsoos hoti hai. Sach me relieve mehsoos kar raha hoon. (Salman Khan is like an older brother. Today, I feel very happy sitting with him. Truly, I am very relieved)."
For this reason, fans are assuming that Salman Khan has extended a hand of help to Rajpal Yadav. But actually, the video is old and carries no connection with the present case.

The reason behind imprisonment
Rajpal Yadav has been fighting a cheque bounce case for 5 crore that he borrowed in 2010 for his directorial debut. But after the failure of the film, he was unable to repay the sum of money. In 2018, he and his wife were sentenced to six months in jail by a magistrate’s court. In 2019, a sessions court upheld the conviction. Later, the Delhi High Court granted him relief.
Even though earlier in the month, the High Court denied relief to the actor, as he was already directed to surrender on February 4, 2026. Justice Sharma said that since the actor had not surrendered yet, the court would hear him only after he reports to the jail authorities.
Following this, Rajpal Yadav surrendered at Tihar Jail on February 5. While serving his sentence, the entire Bollywood has united to support actor Rajpal Yadav. The next bail hearing is on February 16.
