Shooting in progress. Instagram @maisamayhoon The much-awaited comeback
On Thursday, Samay took to Instagram to announce the revival of his favourite chess tournament, “For Old Times’ Sake”. However, many fans quickly flooded his direct messages, expressing disappointment over the lack of any concrete update regarding ‘India’s Got Latent: Season 2’. Responding in his trademark humorous style, Samay shared a meme from his stand-up special ‘Still Alive’ before finally revealing that work on the new season is already underway.
Sharing a behind-the-scenes picture from the sets of the upcoming season, Samay wrote, “Uski bhi shooting chal rahi hai dostoooo (That’s being shot too, friends).” The image featured Samay holding a microphone, while comedian Balraj Ghai stood behind him. The faces of the remaining panel members were deliberately hidden, seemingly to maintain suspense and spark curiosity among viewers. However, comedian Aashish Solanki appeared to be partially visible in the frame.

The update comes weeks after a leaked picture allegedly from the sets of 'India’s Got Latent Season 2' went viral online. The image reportedly showed actors Alia Bhatt and Sharvari seated on a panel alongside Balraj Ghai and Aashish Solanki. While the viral photo fuelled speculation that the two actors may appear as guests in the new season, neither the actors nor the makers have confirmed the reports.

India’s Got Latent landed in controversy in February 2025 after YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia appeared on the show alongside Ashish Chanchlani and Apoorva Mukhija. Ranveer’s remarks about parents and sex during the episode triggered widespread outrage on social media. Despite issuing a public apology, multiple FIRs were filed against Ranveer, Samay, and the show. Apoorva reportedly received rape and death threats, while restrictions were imposed on Ranveer’s podcasts. Following the backlash, Samay removed all episodes of India’s Got Latent from YouTube.
In March, the Supreme Court allowed Ranveer to resume uploading podcasts. Samay later returned in April with his stand-up special ‘Still Alive’, where he openly discussed the controversy, its impact on his mental health, and his family’s reaction. During the special, he officially announced the return of ‘India’s Got Latent: Season 2’, receiving loud cheers from the audience. More recently, Samay and Ranveer reunited on ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’ during a World Laughter Day special episode, where Navjot Singh Sidhu praised Samay as the future of comedy.
