Marvel Studios delivered one of the biggest surprises of San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) 2026 by unveiling an extended and much darker version of the Avengers: Doomsday trailer exclusively for fans inside Hall H. While audiences worldwide watched the public teaser released earlier this month, attendees at the convention witnessed several never-before-seen scenes, new character reveals and a deeper look into Robert Downey Jr.’s Victor Von Doom.
The exclusive footage also confirmed the arrival of the X-Men in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), showcased Doom’s terrifying powers and hinted at a multiversal battle unlike anything Marvel has attempted before.
Hall H gets an exclusive look
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige took the stage alongside directors Joe and Anthony Russo before introducing an enormous ensemble cast from Avengers: Doomsday. Robert Downey Jr. made a dramatic entrance and even encouraged fans in Hall H to wear their Doctor Doom masks, transforming the venue into what looked like an army of Doom supporters.

The presentation ended with an exclusive trailer that was significantly different from the version released online.
How the SDCC trailer differs from the public teaser
Marvel released the first official Avengers: Doomsday trailer on July 20, introducing Victor Von Doom, teasing the return of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and hinting at an impending multiversal conflict.
However, according to reports by Variety, ComicBook and GamesRadar, the SDCC-exclusive footage shifted the spotlight almost entirely to Doom himself. Instead of focusing primarily on the Avengers, the extended trailer explored Doom’s tragic past, personal losses and immense power, presenting a much darker and emotionally driven narrative.
The exclusive footage also featured devastated cities, large-scale destruction and threats that were absent from the online teaser.
Doctor Doom’s tragic backstory unfolds
The trailer reportedly opened with Sue Storm, played by Vanessa Kirby, narrating Victor Von Doom’s story. She described him as “the most intelligent man in the room” before revealing how devastating personal losses transformed him into one of Marvel’s most dangerous villains.
The footage showed Doom inside his castle, where a portrait of a woman and child hinted at the family he had lost.
The emotional sequence quickly shifted to a destroyed New York City, where Reed Richards, portrayed by Pedro Pascal, confronted Doom with the haunting question, “Did you do this, Victor?”
Doom displays unimaginable power
The action escalated with appearances from Thor and his daughter Love.
One of the trailer’s biggest moments showed Doom effortlessly catching Thor’s enchanted hammer Mjolnir before casually throwing it aside, demonstrating his overwhelming strength.

The villain then unleashed green magical energy to summon an army of Sentinels from beneath the ground. As the towering robots emerged, Doom declared, “Hell answers to me,” signalling the scale of destruction awaiting the Marvel universe.
X-Men officially enter the MCU
Perhaps the biggest surprise from the Hall H footage was the arrival of Fox’s X-Men characters into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The trailer reportedly featured James Marsden as Cyclops, Ian McKellen as Magneto and Channing Tatum as Gambit fighting against Doom’s Sentinel army as multiple worlds faced destruction.
Fans also spotted Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers alongside a baby, Tom Hiddleston’s Loki dressed in a TVA uniform, Black Panther and Shang-Chi during the fast-paced battle sequences.
While Marvel has teased mutant integration for years, the SDCC footage appears to confirm that the X-Men will play a significant role in Avengers: Doomsday.
Marvel assembles one of its biggest casts
Marvel also confirmed one of the franchise’s largest ensemble casts during the Comic-Con presentation.

Marvel said the film will bring together heroes from multiple universes to face their greatest threat yet.
