THIS new film by the Tumbbad director is releasing in January; here's all you need to know

Rahi Anil Barve’s mythological mystery Mayasabha, starring Jaaved Jaaferi, will release in theatres on January 30, 2026. The film will screen at PIFF and the Asian Film Festival ahead of release.

Mayasabha, the upcoming Hindi feature film directed by Rahi Anil Barve, is scheduled for a nationwide theatrical release on January 30, 2026, the makers announced on Tuesday. The film is produced by Zirkon Films and will be released by Pickle Entertainment.

The mythological mystery stars Jaaved Jaaferi, Mohammad Samad, Veena Jamkar, and Deepak Damle in lead roles.

Ahead of its theatrical release, Mayasabha will be screened at multiple film festivals. The film is set to have a special screening at the Third Asian Film Festival, to be held from January 9 to 15, with its showcase scheduled for January 11 at 11:30 am. It has also been selected under the Indian Cinema section at the Pune International Film Festival (PIFF) 2026, where it will screen on January 17 at 7 pm.

As per a Mid-day report, director Rahi Anil Barve said the response at early screenings has been encouraging. “Film festivals allow this film to reach an audience that engages closely with its form and ideas. We are now looking forward to the theatrical release,” he said in a statement.

The film was earlier screened as the opening film at the Annabhau Sathe Film Festival in Pune. It was also showcased during the closing phase of the Jagran Film Festival 2025 in Mumbai.

About the film

Mayasabha follows four characters who set out on what appears to be a shared search. As the narrative unfolds, the information available to the characters and the audience begins to diverge. The characters respond to discoveries within the story, while viewers are shown layers the characters remain unaware of.

The film departs from conventional mystery structures, particularly in its final act, where it avoids familiar thriller resolutions.

The film is produced by Girish Patel and Ankoor J Singh, with co-producers Shamrao Bhagwan Yadav, Chanda Yadav, Kewal Handa and Manish Handa. It is presented and distributed by Pickle Entertainment, headed by Sameer Dixit and Rishikesh Bhiringi.
