April 2027 dates under consideration
According to industry tracking platform Sacnilk, Varanasi is expected to release on April 9, 2027. However, a report by 123Telugu claims that the makers may be eyeing April 15, 2027, to coincide with the Ram Navami holiday, a date traditionally considered favourable for big-ticket releases.
The makers have not yet issued an official confirmation on the exact date.
About the film and cast
Varanasi is a Telugu-language science-fiction epic written by V Vijayendra Prasad. The film also marks the return of Priyanka Chopra Jonas to Indian cinema after a huge gap. Prithviraj Sukumaran will be seen in a key role as well.
The teaser of Varanasi was unveiled in November 2025 at the Globe Trott event in Hyderabad and was screened globally on January 5. It was described as the first Indian film teaser to be launched at an international event of that scale, further raising expectations among fans.
The project is reportedly mounted on a budget exceeding ₹1,000 crore, making it one of the most expensive Indian films ever produced.
