The highly anticipated movie "Jana Nayagan" directed by Thalapathy Vijay is again back into the limelight of the industry following reports that hint at an impending modification in the release plans of the movie after many months of postponement.
According to a news story reported on the entertainment portal Gulte, it has come to light that the actor has reportedly asked the team behind the movie to return the money paid by the distributors and other concerned parties due to the delay in releasing the movie.
The movie's director wants the production house to directly release the movie and not follow the current distribution system. But till date, there is no official statement regarding the matter on part of either the star or the producers of the film.

Recent reports suggest the makers are targeting a June 2026 release window, potentially coinciding with Vijay's birthday celebrations. Industry observers believe such a move could help capitalise on the massive anticipation surrounding what is being promoted as the actor's farewell film before his full-time political journey.
The project has also faced challenges following reports of online leaks, adding further pressure on the makers to finalise a release date.

Under the directorship of H. Vinoth, Jana Nayagan revolves around Thalapathy Vetri Kondan, an ex-officer who takes up and nurtures a young girl named Viji amidst a bigger threat to the nation that lands him in a fight with the stronger ones personally.

The movie casts Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain, Priyamani and Sunil. It is rumored that appearances from the directors of other movies like Atlee, Nelson Dilipkumar and Lokesh Kanagaraj may be seen in Jana Nayagan too.
