The Asian Games 2026 is set to start from September 19, continuing till October 4. This year the tournament is scheduled to be held at Aichi-Nagoya, Japan with all the events that are opted to play.
Meanwhile, India has declared their 20-member badminton squad ahead of the tournament. The squad includes two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu and reigning men’s doubles champions Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty as the frontliners of the battle. Alongside, Lakshya Sen, HS Prannoy and former world No. 1 Kidambi Srikanth are also been included in the squad. These three stars were all part of the silver medal-winning Indian men’s team at Hangzhou 2023.
Not only this, but also India’s men’s squad for the 20th edition of the Asian Games have selected elite bronze medal winners of the Thomas Cup earlier this year, with Ayush Shetty and Tharun Mannepalli, the key members of that Thomas Cup, were also been named in the squad.

PV Sindhu will be the only experienced player to lead India’s women’s squad for the grand tournament. She will be accompanied by emerging young players like Tanvi Sharma and Unnati Hooda in the single's event.
The women's doubles event will be anchored by Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand, along with the duo of Simran Singhi and Kavipriya Selvam.

Apart from Satwik-Chirag, the emerging men’s doubles includes Hariharan Amsakarunan and MR Arjun, who will also be a part of the campaign. Arjun was a part of India’s silver-winning men’s team at the 2023 Asian Games.
On the other hand, Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto will represent India in the mixed doubles.
