Ram Charan has delivered a massive box office comeback with Peddi, which collected Rs 112.49 crore worldwide on its opening day, according to trade estimates. The strong debut places the film among the biggest openers in Telugu cinema and marks Ram Charan's highest opening since SS Rajamouli's RRR.

Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the sports drama opened to packed theatres across Telugu-speaking states and witnessed a steady rise in occupancy through the day, aided by positive audience response.

According to trade portal Sacnilk, Peddi earned Rs 51 crore net in India on its first day from over 12,000 shows. Including taxes, the film's India gross stood at Rs 82.49 crore, while overseas markets contributed an additional Rs 30 crore, taking the worldwide gross to Rs 112.49 crore.

The film had already generated significant momentum through paid previews, which reportedly contributed Rs 18.50 crore to the overall tally.

A strong comeback for Ram Charan

The opening is particularly significant for Ram Charan, whose previous release Game Changer failed to meet box office expectations. Trade analysts view Peddi's performance as a reaffirmation of the actor's drawing power. The Telugu market contributed Rs 47.20 crore to the opening-day collections, while the Hindi version added approximately Rs 3 crore.

Night shows recorded strong occupancy, with attendance crossing 76 per cent, indicating favourable word-of-mouth after the initial screenings.

Joins Telugu cinema's elite club

With its opening-day performance, Peddi has become the 11th Telugu film to cross the Rs 100 crore worldwide mark on day one. While it remains behind RRR, which opened to more than Rs 223 crore globally in 2022, the latest release has comfortably secured a place among the industry's biggest launches.
