Prince, the brother of Patna-based teacher Raushan Anand, popularly known as Raushan Sir, has died under suspicious circumstances in Nepal.

NDTV reported on Sunday that preliminary information suggested Prince was drunk at the time of his death, while Nepal police detained five of his friends and prepared for an autopsy to determine the exact cause.

His family members were on their way to Nepal, while Raushan Sir remained in jail in a vandalism case in Patna.

Rivalry and recent escalation

The death comes against the backdrop of an intense rivalry between two Patna coaching centers; Gyan Bindu GS Academy, associated with Raushan Sir, and Khan Global Studies, run by Faisal Khan, widely known as Khan Sir.

The conflict had escalated earlier this month into vandalism and even firing at Khan Sir’s academy. In the aftermath, Raushan Sir was arrested, while Khan Sir obtained interim relief from coercive action.

Prince's role and past allegations

Prince had been named as an accused in the vandalism case and had been living in Nepal with at least six friends. He had also faced allegations in connection with an incident at Khan Sir’s coaching institute in 2021.

According to reports, he was accused of entering a classroom and being involved in a violent altercation. The rivalry between Khan Sir and Raushan Sir has simmered for years, with both educators trading allegations over a series of incidents. Khan Sir has repeatedly blamed Raushan Sir for attacks on his institute and members of his staff.

Raushan Sir has denied the allegations, maintaining that he had no role in those incidents. He has also levelled his own accusations against Khan Sir, claiming that his coaching centre was targeted in a vandalism incident in 2023.

Bihar Police exam dispute and roots of conflict

Investigators believe the latest vandalism incident may have stemmed from a dispute over the Bihar Police recruitment exam results.

Tensions reportedly rose after both coaching institutes claimed credit for the success of selected candidates. Both coaching centers had claimed credit for a large number of successful candidates, leading to torn posters and fistfights among supporters.

The rivalry between the two centers dates back to control over the Kisan Cold Storage campus in Patna’s Musallahpur, where both institutes operate.
