A 22-year-old man was stabbed to death by a group of five assailants in Delhi’s Mangolpuri on Wednesday evening, in an attack that unfolded in full public view and was captured on CCTV.
Attack caught on camera
The victim, identified as Akash, was chased by four to five men through the lanes of Mangolpuri’s N Block around 7 pm. CCTV footage lasting about a minute shows the attackers running after him before cornering him at the entrance of a residential building. Akash is seen trying to escape but is quickly surrounded and repeatedly stabbed with knives.
Police said the footage captures the final moments of the chase, with the assault continuing even after Akash collapsed on the ground.

What led to the incident
Akash, a resident of I Block, worked at a food cart with his father. According to preliminary information, he was with friends at a nearby park when a confrontation reportedly broke out. The argument escalated, following which the group began chasing him through the locality.
As Akash tried to flee, he attempted to take shelter inside a nearby house. Investigators said he was intercepted at the gate and stabbed multiple times, estimated to be around a dozen blows.
Bystanders watch when attackers flee
Several people were present in the area during the attack, but none intervened while the assault was underway. Moments later, as the assailants fled the scene, an elderly resident emerged holding a stick and attempted to confront them. By then, the attackers had managed to escape.
After stabbing Akash at the entrance, the attackers allegedly dragged him back into the lane and continued the assault before fleeing.
Police response and investigation
Police received a PCR call around 7 pm and reached the spot to find Akash lying in a pool of blood. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
A case of murder has been registered, and teams are analysing CCTV footage from the area to identify and trace the suspects.
