The Haryana government temporarily suspended mobile internet, dongle services and bulk SMS facilities in a section of Faridabad on May 30. The restrictions were imposed ahead of a demolition drive in the NIT area, with officials citing concerns related to maintaining public order during the operation.
Internet services are suspended in the notified area
According to an order issued by the Haryana government's Home Affairs department, mobile internet services, including 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G networks, were suspended within a one-kilometre radius of the notified location in Faridabad's NIT Zone, as per Hindustan Times.

Government cites law and order concerns
Officials said the decision was aimed at preventing the spread of misinformation and maintaining public order during the demolition exercise.
According to the order, the suspension was imposed as an emergency preventive measure. The Haryana government's Home Affairs department said the move was necessary to avoid any potential disturbance in the area while the operation was underway.
The order directed all telecom service providers in Haryana to comply with the restrictions within the designated zone.
Services exempted from the suspension
While internet-related services were restricted, voice calling facilities continued to remain operational.
The government also clarified that individual SMS services were not affected. Banking-related SMS alerts, mobile recharge messages and other essential communication services were exempted from the suspension order, according to Hindustan Times.
In addition, broadband internet and leased-line services provided to homes, offices and businesses were allowed to function normally.
