Indian National Congress MP and General Secretary-in-charge communications Jairam Ramesh took a dig at the Narendra Modi-led union government by connecting Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol's iconic movie 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge' or 'DDLJ' to the kind of governance India has seen since 2014, by twisted the expanded form of the movie's abbreviated name.
What did Jairam Ramesh post?
Congress MP Ramesh posted on his X handle on Friday evening, "SRK and Kajol just relived the iconic DDLJ moment during a bronze statue unveiling in London to mark the 30th anniversary of its release."

Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol recently visited London to mark the 30th anniversary of their film 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge', where they unveiled a bronze statue of their characters in the famous dancing pose from 'Mehndi Laga Ke Rakhna' at Leicester Square.
Ramesh's DDLJ dig
Ramesh changed the elaborate meaning of 'DDLJ' - from 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge' to 'Distort, Defame, Lie, Justify' - to attack the Modi government.
He posted on X, "Since May 26, 2014, India has endured prolonged DDLJ moments in governance - Distort, Defame, Lie, Justify."
Expounding each point, Jairam Ramesh further wrote, "Distort: Economic data is manipulated and GDP inflated in India's once-renowned statistical system, earning a 'C' grade from the IMF for national accounts..."
On 'Defame', Ramesh wrote, "Dissent is branded "anti-national"; independent journalists are hounded with cases and social media abuse; anti-pollution protesters labeled Maoists; minorities called 'ghuspaithiya'." Ramesh added, "A campaign targets Jawaharlal Nehru and the Freedom Movement by those who collaborated with the British and formed coalitions with Jinnah's Muslim League."

The Congress MP elaborated the third and fourth points of 'Lie' and 'Justify' as, "'Godi media' spreads false narratives; mainstream outlets are controlled via CBI/ED cases on owners. Fake news polarises communities on social media..." and, "The ₹8,000 crore electoral bonds scam is called 'electoral reform'; vote chori, crores of duplicate voters, and '0' addresses are defended by a forcibly foisted Chief Election Commissioner; governors' actions undermining state governments are rationalised; surveillance apps like Sanchar Saathi are imposed on phone users," respectively.
