The dates for publishing the draft and final voter lists have been pushed back. The draft voter list, earlier scheduled for release on December 9, will now be published on December 16. The final voter list, which was supposed to be announced on February 7, has also been delayed to February 14. The deadline for submitting SIR enumeration forms has been extended from December 4 to December 11. This revision applies to 12 states and Union Territories.

On October 28, the Election Commission announced the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) for 12 regions, including West Bengal.

The list includes Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Madhya Pradesh, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh. BLOs began distributing enumeration forms door-to-door from November 4.

The collection and digitisation process was initially set to end on December 4, but has now been extended to December 11.

SIR process schedule

The draft voter list will be published on December 16, Tuesday. From that day, claims and objections can be filed until January 15, instead of the earlier window from December 9 to January 8.

After this, the notice process will begin and continue from December 16 to February 7, instead of the previous schedule of December 9 to January 31. The final voter list will now be released on February 14.

The Commission said that the extension was necessary to make the electoral rolls more accurate, updated, and well-organised.
