Senior Taliban member Mufti Noor Ahmad Noor arrived in New Delhi to perform his duties as Chargé d'Affaires at Afghanistan's Embassy on Saturday.
Noor Ahmad Noor has served the role of Director General of the First Political Department at Afghanistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. India and Afghanistan have been experiencing a steady rise in their bilateral relations in recent months, particularly following the seven-day visit of Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi in October.
Muttaqi’s visit changed the equations
During this visit, Muttaqi had strongly assured about the control over the embassy situated in New Delhi. He was having his dialogue, indicating the Islamic Emirate's flag hoisted in front and behind him. “This is our flag. We fought jihad under this. This is 100 per cent our embassy. All those who are working here... they are all with us," Muttaqi mentioned in response to a question by IANS.
The embassy officially still hoists the previous flag, which represents the former regime of Ashraf Ghani. It is worth mentioning that Mufti Noor was part of FM Muttaqi's delegation to New Delhi.
