The Uttar Pradesh government has significantly eased the admission process for underprivileged kids who want to study in private schools under the Right to Education (RTE) Act.
According to the new directive, the mandatory requirement of Aadhaar Card for children and their parents has been done away with. Now, the Aadhaar of only one parent will be needed for filing in the online application form for RTE admissions, said a report by The Times of India.
These fresh directives were issued by Additional Chief Secretary, Basic and Secondary Education, Partha Sarthi Sen Sharma.

Government will provide financial aid
Sharma stated that under RTE, the government will provide financial aid only to the Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts of parents, which they need to mention while applying for admissions online.
Sharma said, "Our effort is to make "ease of living' a reality as far as possible, especially for the families genuinely belonging to disadvantaged groups, in the spirit of RTE."
What does the order say?
According to the The Times of India report, the order states that under Section 12(c) of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009, the district-wise annual targets for the admission of children will be determined up to a limit of 25% of the total capacity of the lowest entry class (Class 1 or pre-primary) of all unaided private schools operating in the district.
The order has been sent to all DMs who are also president of the District Education Project Committee (DEPC).
Age limit for admission
The order says that children aged 3 or above but less than 4 years, will be admitted to Nursery. Kids between 4 and 5 years of age will be admitted to LKG. UKG will have kids between the age of 5 and 6. Those between 6 and 7 years will be enrolled in Class 1.

Document verification
Verification of documents will be done at the level of Block Education officer and Basic Shiksha Adhikari.
All approved applications for a school are listed by the DM/CDO and these will then be allocated to schools through a lottery to be held via an online application on a scheduled date. There are two stages to the lottery allocation process.
Verified and approved applications will be shuffled online randomly. In the other process, school allotment will take place in lots of 100. Each applicant will be allotted a school based on their preference, in ascending order of the lottery number.
