Bengaluru is facing a serious health concern as residents of KSFC Layout in Lingarajapuram fear turning on their taps. For the past week, sewage water has allegedly mixed with the drinking water supply, affecting around 30 to 40 families. Many residents are suffering from stomach infections, vomiting, and diarrhoea.
Locals say the situation could turn as severe as the recent water contamination incident in Bhagirathpura, Indore.
Sewage water found in drinking supply
Residents said the problem began with dirty water flowing from taps, but later worsened. Paul Newman, a resident, said foul-smelling water and sewage sludge are now coming out of taps. Several households reported that family members were falling sick one after another.

At first, people thought the illnesses were due to seasonal changes. However, when residents cleaned their water tanks, they found thick layers of sludge inside, confirming that the water supply was contaminated.
Authorities respond, residents in panic
The Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) said a drinking water pipe may have burst at an unknown location and mixed with a sewage line. Officials said the exact point of the leak has not yet been identified, and excavation work is being carried out urgently.
