The Interpol has arrested Arjun Sharma, the prime accused in the murder of Nikitha Godishala, in the United States from Tamil Nadu. The accused had fled and landed in India after murdering his former girlfriend.
Nikitha Rao Godishala was 27 at the time of her death. She was based in Maryland and worked as a data analyst. She was reported missing on January 2 after her ex-boyfriend, Arjun Sharma, now the prime accused in her murder, filed a missing persons complaint with the Howard County Police. He claimed that he had seen her last on New Year's Eve, India Today reported.
Arjun Sharma raised red flags
The police became suspicious of Arjun Sharma's culpability as he left the United States for India on the very day he filed the missing persons report. The police searched Sharma's apartment on Twin Rivers Road in Columbia, Maryland, with a warrant and found Nikitha Godishala's corpse inside the apartment.

Police officials noted that Godishala's death was a matter of brutal homicide. The deceased suffered multiple stab wounds. The missing persons case was then turned into a murder case. Subsequently, Howard County Police got arrest warrants against Godishala's former partner, Arjun Sharma, on charges of first and second-degree murder. The police are still investigating Sharma's motive for the homicide.
Arjun Sharma arrested in Tamil Nadu
Investigators in the US coordinated with Indian authorities to hunt down Arjun Sharma after the accused reportedly fled from the country after committing the murder. India Today reported that Interpol police officials arrested Sharma in Tamil Nadu. This was made possible by continuous surveillance and information that was shared between the investigators of both countries. Sharma is expected to be extradited to the United States soon, where he will face justice.
