Acting President of Venezuela Delcy Eloína Rodríguez Gómez arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday for a five-day visit that will run from June 3 to June 7, according to the Ministry of External Affairs.
She is scheduled to hold bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday, with the two sides set to review the full spectrum of India-Venezuela relations.
The Venezuelan leader is accompanying a high-level delegation that includes ministers handling foreign affairs, economy and finance, science and technology, communication and information, and transportation.

Energy, trade and industry on the table
The agenda is expected to focus on cooperation in energy security, trade and investment, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, transportation and renewable energy.
According to News On AIR, the delegation will also visit facilities linked to the energy, pharmaceutical and automobile sectors to gain an understanding of India’s technological and industrial capabilities and look for collaboration opportunities.
The government outlet said the discussions are aimed at exploring “avenues for further cooperation” in those areas.

Old ties, fresh conversations
Rodríguez had visited India earlier in different roles, including as foreign minister in 2015 and as vice president in 2019, 2023, 2024 and 2025.
India and Venezuela enjoy friendly ties, particularly in energy and trade, and the two countries share a commitment to the Global South.
The visit is expected to strengthen bilateral relations and deepen engagement across diverse sectors.

Courtesies first, negotiations next
External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal welcomed the Venezuelan leader on her arrival in the capital.
In a post, he said, “A warm welcome to Acting President Delcy Rodriguez of Venezuela on her arrival in New Delhi.”
The Indian side has described the visit as part of ongoing efforts to deepen the bilateral partnership, with energy cooperation remaining a central pillar of the relationship.
