A high-scoring clash between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2026 had its share of standout moments, but one incident quickly went viral: Krunal Pandya's animated celebration after dismissing his brother Hardik Pandya.
Hardik, leading Mumbai Indians, looked in good touch with a quick 40 off 22 balls. However, his innings ended when he attempted a big shot against Jacob Duffy and was caught by Romario Shepherd. As the wicket fell, Krunal, representing RCB, celebrated with visible excitement, underlining the importance of the breakthrough.

RCB pile on runs at Wankhede
Earlier, RCB put up a commanding total of 240/4 after being asked to bat first. Half-centuries from Phil Salt, Virat Kohli, and captain Rajat Patidar powered the innings. Patidar's 20-ball fifty stood out as one of the fastest knocks of the match.
Mumbai Indians, meanwhile, struggled to contain the scoring, allowing RCB to build momentum throughout the innings.

MI's chase falters despite strong start
Chasing 241, Mumbai Indians began on a positive note. Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton added 62 runs in the powerplay. However, the game turned after Rohit's injury and the quick dismissals of Rickelton and Tilak Varma in the same over.
Despite efforts from Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya, the team kept losing wickets at crucial stages.
A late surge from Sherfane Rutherford, who remained unbeaten on 71 off 31 balls, kept the chase alive, but Mumbai Indians eventually finished at 222/5, falling short by 18 runs.
Hardik reflects on team's performance
After the match, Hardik Pandya pointed to areas that need improvement. "We conceded way too many as well. For the last couple of games, as a bowling unit and as a batting unit, we have been catching up. We really need to reflect on what we can best do and how we can get the momentum we require. A lot of things need a rethink.

We have to see what other options we can have with the bat and the ball. We still need to bat and bowl well. If you do that, irrespective of the toss, we should be fine. We are talking about how to get some momentum in the powerplay. We are trying to catch up in both departments. We will see what we can do in the next game," he said per NDTV.
He also praised Rutherford's knock, noting it adds depth and confidence to the squad moving forward.
