When it comes to daily-use fragrances, body spray is the first thing that comes to mind. However, discerning people are also selective about scents. Instead of cheap scent, many use comparatively expensive perfume. According to price, its fragrance and longevity can differ. But the story of fragrances doesn't end here. Fragrance experts say that perfumes also have different types. If you look, three to four varieties are available in our country. They look almost the same, but somewhere on the glass bottle it says Eau de cologne (EDC), somewhere Eau de toilette (EDT), and elsewhere Eau de Parfume (EDP). Why are they different despite being from the same family?

Experts say that what a fragrance will be called depends on the concentration of perfume oil in the perfume. The amount of this oil determines how long the fragrance will last and how intense it will be. The price of fragrances also depends on these factors.

What do EDC, EDT and EDP mean?

Eau de Cologne:

Among the various types of fragrances, EDC is the lightest. It contains only 2% to 4% perfume oil. The rest is water and alcohol. The scent of Eau de Cologne lasts at most one to two hours. This fragrance is unmatched for quickly refreshing the mind after returning from work.

Difference between EDP, EDT and EDCWhat is the difference between Eau de Parfum, Eau de Toilette and Eau de Cologne?

Eau de Toilette: Sweating is highest during the day. Since it contains a higher concentration of perfume oil compared to cologne, i.e., 5% to 15%. So even though its scent is light, it lasts longer (about 3-5 hours). This is ideal for daytime application during the summer.

Eau de Parfum: Compared to the other two, its scent is quite intense. Because it contains about 15% to 20% perfume oil concentration. Once applied, its fragrance stays on the skin for 6-8 hours or even longer. However, remember that excessively strong EDP in intense heat can irritate others. Not everyone can tolerate such strong scents. So it's better to save this for evening events.

How to choose a scent?

On hot days, instead of 'woody' or 'spicy' scents, you can choose citrus, floral or marine or aqua family fragrances.

On which parts of the body should you apply fragrance for it to last longer?

You can apply fragrance on your wrists, behind your ears and on both sides of your neck. However, don't rub too much, as this makes the scent fade quickly.

Use petroleum jelly on that part of the body before applying perfume. This makes the scent last much longer.
