Weather changes not only bring up problems regarding skin but also hair. During winter, dandruff, hair fall, and dry, flaky scalp are common complaints. Many people do not wash their hair often, which makes the scalp extremely dry. And to worsen the situation, pollution leaves your hair in the worst state during winter. Regular shampoo cannot keep these at bay; therefore, making some key changes is essential during winter.

How to care for your hair in winter:
Wash hair with lukewarm water: You can't wash your hair with cold water in this season, as it can create discomfort or even a running nose. On the other hand, hot water removes the natural oils of your hair, leaving your scalp dry and brittle. The best approach is to use lukewarm water — a mix of slightly warm and cool water.
Apply oil before shampooing: Massaging your hair with oil before shampooing maintains moisture and strengthens the roots of your hair. It also aids in improving the blood circulation in the scalp. Hot oil massages are most effective during winter.
Choose the right shampoo: It is essential to use a good-quality shampoo to avoid dryness. Use sulfate-free shampoos. You need not shampoo every day; 2-3 times a week will do. Instead, you can try alternating between a clarifying shampoo and a hydrating shampoo once a week for better results.
Use conditioner: It is never enough to just shampoo. Apply conditioner from mid-length to the ends of your hair, leaving it on for 2–3 minutes before rinsing. Conditioner seals the moisture in; that is how it manages to maintain hair soft and smooth even in dry winter weather.

Avoid excessive heat styling: This means not using a hair dryer to dry hair quickly or even styling tools wherever possible. Heat damages hair further and makes it dry and rough. If you go outside, take necessary measures to tie your hair to protect it from cold winds.
