As winter sets in, cold winds and dry weather pull moisture from the skin and the scalp is no exception. Many people notice dandruff becoming worse during this season, leading to itching, hair fall, and sometimes even infections. But with a bit of routine care and simple home remedies, these problems can be brought under control.

During winter, the air loses its natural humidity, causing the scalp to dry out. Frequent hot-water hair washes, overuse of hair dryers, and skipping hair oiling make the scalp even drier, increasing dandruff. In some cases, fungal infections can also trigger it. That’s why regular scalp care becomes essential.

The first step is keeping the scalp moisturized. Warm coconut oil, olive oil, or almond oil massaged twice a week helps soften the skin and reduce dandruff. A mix of lemon juice and curd applied for 20 minutes before washing works as a natural anti-dandruff treatment.

Aloe vera gel is another effective solution as it soothes irritation and hydrates the scalp. Those with severe dandruff can use an anti-dandruff shampoo. Just remember to follow up with a conditioner, as winter tends to make hair rough. Good sleep, nourishment, and proper hydration also play a big role. Don’t ignore dandruff. It’s not just a seasonal irritation — if neglected, it can lead to inflammation and hair fall. A little extra attention during winter ensures your hair stays soft, fresh, and dandruff-free. Keeping your hair hydrated also reduces seasonal hair fall. Using a hair mask once a week adds extra nourishment.
