The years change, the opponents change, and the captain changes, but the Delhi Capitals' fate remains the same. Fighting in their fourth final, the Capitals failed to capitalise on the moments, and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women's won their second WPL trophy. The tussle between two IPL giants took a new shape in the WPL as RCB matched MI's trophy count, and as the season ends, MI and RCB remain the only shareholders of the WPL champion’s tag.

The RCB franchise won three consecutive titles, and the ladies in red won the first trophy for the franchise in 2024. In 2025, the boys increased the count to two, and now, with the new championship, the girls will carry one more star on their jersey proudly.

What went wrong for the Delhi Capitals? A small recap of the match

After the stunning performance of Malaika Arora, the RCB women asked the Delhi batters to throw them a challenge. Delhi Batters gave a solid statement, posting 203 runs in the marquee clash and proving why they are here. A 76-run stand between Laura Wolvaardt and Jemimah Rodrigues shifted the momentum towards them. After playing a false shot, Rodrigues left the field, scoring 57 runs. Then came the storm, the Caribbean powerhouse Chinelle Henry played a cameo of 35 runs in just 15 balls and helped the team to cross the line of 200 runs.

Giving a strong challenge to RCB, DC bowlers looked very strong till the first two overs, until the Smriti storm came. Mandhana played one of the finest innings of her life, scoring 87 runs in just 41 balls. Leaving no room for the bowlers, she not only owned the run chase but also built the stage for RCB. Not to forget the 79 runs contribution of Georgia Voll, their partnership of 165 runs was the highest partnership of WPL history. However, three consecutive shifts shifted the momentum towards Delhi.

In the fifth ball of the 19th over, Minu Chani dropped the catch of Radha Yadav, who later hit two consecutive boundaries to Sri Charani and helped RCB to win its second title.

Delhi had a chance until the very end, but the first-time captain, Jemimah, struggled to control the flow of runs. A crucial dropped catch proved costly for the Delhi Capitals players. This reinforces the saying, "catches win matches." Additionally, giving the last over to a spinner, who bowled two consecutive balls on the off side where there were fewer fielders, worked in favour of RCB.
